Tau of n cubed

Rule

Each term is: The number cubed, then take the number of the divisors

Known as: Tau of n cubed

The number of divisors of n cubed.

The first 50 terms (starting from n=1) are:

1 4 4 7 4 16 4 10 7 16 4 28 4 16 16 13 4 28 4 28 16 16 4 40 7 16 10 28 4 64 4 16 16 16 16 49 4 16 16 40 4 64 4 28 28 16 4 52 7 28

Example

To get the value for n=12:

  • Cube the number, giving 1728.
  • Find the number's divisors, giving 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 16, 18, 24, 27, 32, 36, 48, 54, 64, 72, 96, 108, 144, 192, 216, 288, 432, 576, 864, 1728
  • Count them, giving 28.

So the result is 28.
